On July 12, 2023, Zhejiang Provincial Charity Federation ushered in its second member meeting, where Gong Puguang, vice chairman of the Social Construction Committee of the 13th NPC and president of China Charity Federation, was invited to attend the meeting and he pointed out that Zhejiang has a cultural tradition of attaching equal importance to righteousness and benefit and respecting virtue and goodness for years, besides, Zhejiang province has been at the forefront of its charity work in the whole country, forming an organized, diversified, intelligent and standardized development pattern, becoming a pioneer and model for the development of philanthropy in China.

Later on, Gong Puguang, accompanied by Qiu Dongyao, newly elected president of Zhejiang Provincial Charity Federation, and its vice president and secretary general Cai Guohua, began series of field investigation and research of Zhejiang grassroots charity, including Yangshan Village and Zhejiang Chenlong Sawing Machine Co., Ltd. in Jinyun County, Xianju County in Taizhou City, Wugen Town, WEPON Group, A Charity Work Liaison Station in Xiazhang Village and JACK SEWING MACHINE CO. LTD., in Wenling City as well as Taichou Charity Base, etc.

Deeply impressed by the practical and distinctive grass-root charity work in Zhejiang, Gong Puguang stated that the grass-root units are the cells of society and the harmony and warmth of society relied on activating every ‘cell’. The demands of the people can be perceived most directly and the diverse needs of the people can be served most conveniently. Grass-root charity is crucial to do a good job in charity. I believe that with the popularization and improvement of grassroots community charity networks in China, the foundation of charity in China will become increasingly solid and its role and its contribution to the economy and society will become greater.
